How to get your Polar workouts into Forta
Forta reads workouts from Apple Health on your iPhone, and the Polar Flow app can send your Polar training sessions there. In Polar Flow, tap More, then General settings, and turn on the Apple Health toggle. Your workouts then show up in Forta, and Polar sends each one’s type, duration, distance, calories and average heart rate. It doesn’t send routes, so Forta can’t draw a map for them.

Turn on Apple Health in Polar Flow
- 1Open Polar Flow on your iPhone, tap More at the bottom right, then General settings.
- 2Turn on the Apple Health toggle.
- 3Choose the categories to share, or tap Turn All Categories On, then tap Allow at the top right.
- 4Open Forta. Your Polar training sessions are in the Workouts list.
Sharing goes one way: Polar Flow sends data to Apple Health, but can’t read from it.
What reaches Apple Health
| Data | Reaches Apple Health | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Workouts | Yes | Type (for example Running), duration, distance, start and end time, active energy and average heart rate. |
| Heart rate | During workouts | Continuous all-day heart rate isn’t synced. |
| Route map | No | Not on Polar’s list. |
| Daily steps | Yes | Steps measured by your Polar device. |
| Active energy | Workouts only | Calories burned during workouts. Resting energy is sent too. |
| Exercise minutes | No | Not on Polar’s list. |
Polar also sends sleep and weight.
How long syncing takes
Once the toggle is on, Polar says all new data in Polar Flow is synced to Apple Health. So a workout reaches Apple Health, and Forta, after your Polar device has synced it to Polar Flow. To send it again, tap Sync now under the Apple Health toggle: it syncs the last two weeks of data again.
Known gaps
- No route map: routes aren’t among the data Polar sends to Apple Health.
- Heart rate comes only from workouts; all-day heart rate stays in Polar Flow.
- Active energy covers workouts only.
Troubleshooting
- Sync again: in Polar Flow, tap More, then General settings, then Sync now under the Apple Health toggle.
- Check that the connection is still on: in the Health app, tap your profile picture in the upper corner, then, under Privacy, tap Apps and Polar Flow, and turn on any categories that are off.
- Update Polar Flow from the App Store.
- Reinstall as a last step: delete Polar Flow and tap Keep when your iPhone asks about its Health data. Reinstall it, sign in, turn the Apple Health toggle back on in General settings, and tap Sync now.
- Steps or calories counted twice, or missing? When several sources send the same kind of data, Apple Health uses the one at the top of its list. In the Health app, tap Browse, Activity and Steps, scroll down to Data Sources & Access, tap Edit and drag Polar Flow to the top.
- Still not in Forta? Pull down on Forta’s Workouts list to refresh it. If the workout is in Apple Health but not in Forta, check that Forta may read workouts: in the Health app, tap your profile picture in the upper corner, then, under Privacy, tap Apps and Forta, and turn on Workouts.
