Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions people ask most about Forta.

Getting Started

How do I get started with Forta?
Download Forta from the App Store, open the app, and grant permission to read your Apple Health workout data. Your recent workouts will appear automatically. Tap any workout to create a card or animation.
Is Forta free?
Yes. Forta is free to download and use, with no paywall and no ads. You don't need an account.
Does Forta work with all workout types?
Yes. Forta supports the workout types recorded in Apple Health: running, cycling, swimming, walking, hiking, strength training, yoga, HIIT and many more.
Does Forta work with Strava, Garmin or other fitness apps?
Forta reads workouts from Apple Health. If another app saves its workouts to Apple Health, they appear in Forta too.
Why can't I see my workouts in Forta?
Make sure you've granted Forta permission to read your Health data. Go to Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Forta and enable read access for workouts. If workouts still don't appear, check that the app recording them (your Apple Watch, Strava and so on) saves to Apple Health.
Which languages does Forta support?
The iPhone app is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Hindi, Italian, Dutch, Swedish and Turkish.

Cards & Animations

Can I turn my Apple Watch workout summary into an image?
Yes. Pick a workout in Forta and choose a card style: Forta turns its stats, such as time, distance, pace, heart rate and calories, into an image you can save to Photos or share. Animations turn the same stats into a short video.
What's the difference between cards and animations?
Cards are static images showing your workout stats in a designed layout. Animations are short videos that bring your workout data to life with motion graphics. Both can be shared to Instagram and other apps.
How many card styles and animations are available?
Forta includes 11 card styles (Default, Minimal, Focus, Stats, Polaroid, Ticket, ID Badge, Receipt, Boarding Pass, Score and Fuel Gauge) and more than 30 animation styles.
Can I customize the colors and themes?
Yes. Each card style offers multiple color themes and filters, and you can preview the options before you choose one.

Sharing

How do I share my Apple Watch workout to Instagram Stories?
Open Forta on your iPhone, tap the workout, choose a card or animation, then tap the Instagram icon. Forta opens Instagram with your content ready to post, and you can add stickers, text or music before you share your Story.
Can I share to other apps besides Instagram?
Yes. The share button opens the iOS share sheet, so you can send your card to Messages, WhatsApp, X, AirDrop or Photos, or anywhere else you can share images and videos.
What video format are animations exported in?
Animations are exported as MP4 videos in 9:16 vertical format (1080×1920), sized for Instagram Stories and Reels.

Apple Watch

Do I need an Apple Watch to use Forta?
No. Forta works with any workout in Apple Health, whatever recorded it. If you have an Apple Watch, the Forta companion app adds a quick way to send a workout to your iPhone.
How does the Apple Watch app work?
The Watch app lists your recent workouts. Tap one to send it to your iPhone: Forta shows a notification there, and tapping it opens that workout ready to customize and share. This needs notifications allowed for Forta on your iPhone.
Why isn't the Watch app showing on my Apple Watch?
The Watch app usually installs along with the iPhone app. Make sure your Watch is paired and synced. If it still doesn't appear, open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Forta, and turn on "Show App on Apple Watch."

AI Captions

How do AI captions work?
Forta uses Apple Intelligence to write captions from your workout data. It takes your workout type and metrics into account and gives you text you can copy and paste.
Why don't I see the AI caption feature?
AI captions need Apple Intelligence, which is available on iPhone 15 Pro and later with iOS 18.1 or later. Make sure Apple Intelligence is turned on in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri.
Can I edit the AI-generated captions?
Yes. Captions are suggestions: copy the text, paste it wherever you're sharing, and edit it however you like.

Privacy & Data

Is my health data safe with Forta?
Yes. Cards and captions are made on your iPhone, and your health data is never uploaded to a Forta server — we cannot see your workouts. Forta does collect anonymous usage analytics, such as which workout type you open, to find bugs and improve the app.
Does Forta require an account?
No account is needed: there's no sign-up and no password, and your workout data is processed on your device. Forta stores an email address only if you choose to send feedback, and collects anonymous usage analytics to find bugs.
How can I revoke Health data access?
Go to Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Forta. Here you can disable read access at any time. Forta will no longer be able to see your workout data.

Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for common issues you might encounter.

App crashes when opening

Try force-closing Forta and reopening. If the issue persists, try restarting your iPhone or reinstalling the app.

Animations are slow or laggy

Close other apps to free up memory. Animations are optimized for all supported iPhones, but performance may vary with system load.

Instagram share doesn't work

Make sure Instagram is installed and updated. Try sharing via the share sheet instead of the direct Instagram button.

Activity rings not showing

Ensure Forta has permission to read Activity data in Settings → Health. Activity rings require workout data from Apple Watch.
